Favorite Winter Looks Of 2013

We had our first near-snow of the year (not calling it the first snow until it sticks!) a few nights ago, so in honor of that I thought I'd post my favorite winter outfits from last year. Many of these outfits had coats layered on top that I briefly ditched for pictures. It was an incredibly cold and snowy winter so pictures were often snapped quickly and I reached a point where I couldn't be bothered to wear proper boots because literally every day called for snow boots. Anyway, it's time to locate all my mittens, scarves, and hats!

Fall Favorites from 2009 to 2012

My last fall favorites post featured a few outfits I liked from 2013 and it was quite popular, so I decided to feature a few more from other years. It's interesting to see how I keep repeating the same items--the navy jacket, I'm still wearing it. That little navy dress? Yep, definitely gonna be in a lot more posts this fall. If I can survive the archives, I'll do a recap of my favorite winter looks through the years at some point. Especially since 2011 is a bit deceitful in it's appearance because I basically only had the bobbed haircut for about a month and then I started being a pixie.

Favorite Fall Looks Of 2013

I'm trying to get in the mood for fall by looking at my favorite outfits from last fall. I'm not usually one for recaps, but I don't look at my archives often and it actually is interesting to see what I was up to around a year ago. And as much as I like playing with other hair colors I can't really imagine being anything but a redhead in autumn--all of the rust colored outfits I want to wear would clash with pink hair (or the blue from last summer!). Anyway, I'm looking forward to some fun adventures in October with Thomas and some friends. Pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and hay rides are definitely on our agenda. Thomas might be too old to experience an American Halloween like I had as a kid going door-to-door begging for candy, but there are a lot of other Halloween-y activities he can experience for the first time when he visits in October.

Of course, this look from 2012 might have been my best fall post of all...I might repeat this whole outfit this year.

Postcards from Ireland

I'm currently enjoying some of the most beautiful weather in Northern Ireland and being on my computer for an extended period of time is a pain. So today I thought I'd share a few of my favorite "touristy" snaps from my Instagram. They're not the same quality as I can get with my camera, but sometimes it's nice to leave the camera at home.

*Audrey Hepburn in Rome

What I wore this week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

“What would it be like
to live in a library
of melted books.
With sentences streaming
over the floor and all the punctuation
settled to the bottom as a residue.
It would be confusing.
Unforgivable.
A great adventure.”
-Anne Carson

*collages by Kelly O'Connor

What I wore this week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Something to chew on: "In the fashion magazines that crowd the rack of bookstores and corner shops, beautiful models live beautiful lives wearing beautiful clothes in beautiful homes. Whereas my Happy Victims are neither strikingly attractive nor occupy handsomely appointed dwellings. And yet in all of Japan, they’re the ones who buy these brands most, not models. These Happy Victims unilaterally dedicated their lives to the brands they love despite getting no kudos from the sellers. But they’re magic to my eyes, they radiate positive vibes that transcend all reason." Happy Victims by Kyoichi Tsuzuki
