Karen Walker Resort 2015

At first I wasn't sold on Karen Walker's Resort collection--aside from the adorable cat purse and her always striking sunglasses, the clothes seemed a little plain, almost boring. Then I read the designer's inspiration, "[resort is] anti-going out clothes...As non-fancy as possible." Now the cat tee shirts, chambray smocks, and relaxed silhouettes make sense, they're clothes for Internet cat-ladies and suddenly I'm liking the clothes more. Sometimes the story behind the collection is necessary to appreciating the designs; with couch-surfing and Netflix-bingeing in mind I couldn't think of anything more suitable than Walker's collection which would let me feel like a slob, without looking like one. Matthew Williamson Resort 2015

While the black & white trend is still going strong for many designers, it's very enjoyable that there are some exceptions to the rule, one extravagant exception being the always bold Matthew Williamson. His last few collections have been a bit staid, but for resort he has returned to his boho and eclectic roots with a series of striking minis and cocktail dresses that certainly suit the title of "resort." I for one, am a fan. You can view the full collection here.

Mary Katrantzou Resort 2015

Mary Katrantzou's pieces look pretty at a distance--good colors, interesting prints, simple shapes, but it's only when you zoom in on the details that Katranztou's genius shines. Her signature style for graphic prints is all over the layered embroideries, as is her name. Woven between layers of lace and bird appliqués are letters, scrambled and jumbled to the point they're almost indiscernible from the patterns they interweave with. After several seasons of complaints that the designer didn't know any new tricks, her last two recent collections are definitely putting an end to those concerns. Orla Kiely Resort 2015

Orla Kiely recently got into the shoe game with a collaboration with Clarks and shoes still seem to be on the designer's mind judging by this new resort collection featuring adorable shoe prints. Orla Kiely is always known for its bold prints and these retro-looking sling backs work beautiful on Kiely's vintage silhouettes. View the rest of the collection here.

Tomas Maier Resort 2015

I'm a fan of the Thomas Maier Resort collection and whipped up a post stating as much noting the modern-beatnik vibe and semi-reasonabl pricing of the brand when I saw Miss Moss's post on the same collection. She digitally collaged her favorite pieces of the collection with vintage artwork and the result is stunning. Even with the sketch backdrops the collection still feels very modern-Bardot to me.
