Picnic In The Forest

How idyllic is this picnic in the forest editorial? It's really beautifully styled as I covet everything from her clothes to her humble, but tasty-looking spread--and I rather think the woods look like Ireland. Hopefully there will be some picnics like this in my future, until then I'll just start the fruitless hunt for similar boots and picnic blanket in my budget! via

Rosie Loves Hats

I recently stumbled across this editorial and while I like the whole outfits I'm really fixated on the hats. Seeing this definitely makes me feel like I don't own enough. How perfect are the simple shift dresses paired with comfortable flats and punctuated with quirky hats? I want every single look and I think what my closet is mostly lacking is the millinery! This editorial definitely spurred an Etsy search for cute fascinators.

Liu Dan and Chen Lin For Baccarat Magazine

Between minimalism and 90s nostalgia ruling the fashion scene there are few editorials I enjoy right now--nearly everything's too stoic, colorless, and awkward for my tastes. So when I saw this bright, retro, poppy editorial from Baccarat Magazine I couldn't have been happier. Pattern mixing, over-the-top accessories, and the perfectly vintage inspired hair and makeup is right up my alley. Models Liu Dan and Chen Lin look stunning without an overdone crop-top or Birkenstock in sight... via

Modern Romance

"A thing of beauty is a joy for ever
Its lovliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness; but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep
Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing.
Therefore, on every morrow, are we wreathing
A flowery band to bind us to the earth,
Spite of despondence, of the inhuman dearth
Of noble natures, of the gloomy days,
Of all the unhealthy and o'er-darkn'd ways
Made for our searching: yes, in spite of all,
Some shape of beauty moves away the pall
From our dark spirits. Such the sun, the moon,
Trees old and young, sprouting a shady boon
For simple sheep; and such are daffodils
With the green world they live in; and clear rills
That for themselves a cooling covert make
'Gainst the hot season; the mid-forest brake,
Rich with a sprinkling of fair musk-rose blooms:
And such too is the grandeur of the dooms
We have imagined for the mighty dead;
An endless fountain of immortal drink,
Pouring unto us from the heaven's brink."
poem by John Keats

A Style That Could Grow On You

I don't usually like editorials from the 1980s and 90s; the fashions aren't really my aesthetic and the photography is usually a bit garish to me as well, still sometimes something will catch my eye--like this editorial by Bruce Weber, styled by Grace Coddington for Vogue. I'm quite a fan of flower crowns but this has me imagining all sorts of uses for flowers--why don't we wear corsages on a more regular basis? Also how natural does it look for a backless dress to have a flower tucked into it? Okay, perhaps it is a little impractical for daily wear, but it's quite romantic and I'm charmed.

Hana Haley's photography is full of summer vibes. They look like stills from home videos featuring a surf-inspired soundtrack. Everything is sunshine and pastels and I can't get enough.

Beautiful Ful S/S 2014

I'm a sucker for boys with tattoos and girls with beehives so this lookbook for Beautiful Ful's Spring/Summer 2014 collection is one of my number one summer inspirations. This summer I'm thinking full skirts and perhaps a few crops tops but with a definite 50s influence of exaggerated winged eyeliner rather than the usual 90s interpretation of a crop top. I think I also need some fitted black jeans. Anyway, Beautiful Ful is a menswear brand, but I love the way they styled things for a couple in their lookbook down to the matching tops and shared milkshake.

Fashion And All That Jazz

I don't know how I missed this editorial before since I love vintage-themed shoots and there's a real energy to the modeling in this particular series, but I'm glad I've found it now. This era will always appeal to me and I really enjoy the cinematic quality of these photographs. Arlenis Sosa and Chanel Iman photographed by Peter Lindbergh for Harper's Bazaar US September 2009.
